We use the present simple to talk about:

  • routines and habits
  • things that happen regularly
  • facts and general truths

Positive Form + Examples:

  • I/you/we/they + base verb
    • I usually go to bed early.
    • You look tired.
    • We eat breakfast together.
  • he/she/it + verb + S
    • My neighbor plays loud music.
    • The highway near my house gets really crowded.
    • My manager occasionally sends me emails on the weekend.
    • She likes arriving before anyone else.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Your example: Write one sentence about YOUR daily routine, and one sentence about SOMEONE ELSE’S daily routine.

Negative Form + Examples:

  • I/you/we/they  + do not (donโ€™t) + base verb
    • I donโ€™t drink coffee at home.
    • My neighbors donโ€™t have parties very often.
  • he/she/it + does not (doesnโ€™t) + base verb
    • My boss doesnโ€™t expect us to answer e-mails after work.
    • My husband doesnโ€™t often eat breakfast.
    • The subway doesnโ€™t get stuck in traffic jams.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Your example: Write one sentence about something you DON’T do on the weekend, and one sentence about something SOMEONE ELSE doesn’t do on the weekend.

Questions + Examples:

  • Does + he/she/it + base verb?
    • When does your day start?
